As long as your back up can play 45 games a year, you're golden

And how much money do the Flames have to tie up in Reimer? Did you factor in the salary cap in this wonderful blog?

This is a guy that hasn't been healthy for an entire season and you want to invest money and term in him? Is he that much of an upgrade over Ramo who would be considerably cheaper then James "Couldn't Cut It In Toronto"Reimer.

Seriously the thought of Reimer or Howard gives me nightmares.

Reimer is going to want 4-6 years and 4-6 mill per ... bush league suggestion at best

Oh I see nice one Clown Fish .. I'll just call you Nemo.

So Nemo we are going to argue about how Reimer isn't worth the money decent goalies get but he is a decent goalie so we should sign him?? Oh and he is going to be so happy to come to Calgary and be under Ol'Burkie that he will sign a 1 - 2 year deal for way below market value so he can finish bottom 5 next year ... you sir are clueless.

Please link verified reports to Reimer asking for those numbers.

and YES, Reimer is an instant upgrade over Ramo and Hiller. Your response was the only thing "Bush League".

INSTANT Upgrade are you high? Reimer is exactly what Ramo is .. you are clueless there is no use in arguing with someone who Believes Reimer is anything more then a backup.

opinions = clueless?

you still fail to provide a proven link to his contract demands.

If you compare the 2015/2016 season of both goalies, Reimer had a better save percentage, more shots, more saves, better goals against average, more shutouts, more games played. What else do you need to think that Reimer is an upgrade on Ramo having played the majority of the season on the last place team in the league..

I'm curious to know what Bob Murray does with Andersen. He wants to be a number 1 and made it clear after the Ducks were eliminated. Does he let Gibson go on a awesome contract and being younger for a ton or Andersen go for i'm guessing a solid first rounder pick and maybe a prospect. He definitely made a case for a payday and number 1 minutes in the 5 playoff games he played for the Ducks. Calgary makes a lot of sense but i dont know if BM wants to keep him in the West.

He's not getting 6x6 or 5x5. Goalies have a tougher time in free agency as is, and if expansion happens another half dozen 1A/B guys may enter the market. Going back to Toronto is a possibility, but the truth is that if Reimer wants 60 starts next year, Calgary is the only franchise that can offer him that.

I agree Reimer is our best option for next year. He is not an elite starter, but hes better than a backup, he's a great tandem type option that can keep the crease warm for a few seasons. Raanta resigned today so he is off the market.
From the last thread, I agree with the last few posts that Nylander has to be considered an option at #6. he might not have the size we would find ideal, but he may be the most skilled between him, Dubois and Tkatchuk. Not buying the "cant compete with the California teams" when Chicago has been doing it for years with skill. Slot Nylander on Bennett's wing with a guy like Lucic and you have a 2nd line that can cycle and score.

and I will call you doorknob, so first, Bruke is not the GM. If he were to sign with the Flames it will be 3-4 years at a 3-4 mil AVV, he might get slightly over 4 mil per but not much. It is not like we cannot afford that with a backup around the 1 mil mark in the cap system either.

How do you expect to have a mature conversation with anyone on these forums if you are going to spew garbage, not only to every response that is in opposition of your thoughts, but also to the creator of the blog. Get a grip bud and grow up.

Reimer's numbers on a horrendous team suggest that he is, at the very least, a capable starter. To Todd's point, if Gillies is still the guy, then a stopgap via free agency makes way more sense than giving up multiple assets for a guy like Andersen.

I'm fully in favour of taking Nylander. He was the offensive catalyst on a mediocre, upstart team as a 17-year-old. Tkachuk, a complimentary piece on an elite team with an extra year of experience and strength. And what's a more likely scenario for Calgary with their current set of prospects; finding a big, complimentary LW with size or a skilled, creative, right-shooting winger?

So you took the low end of my example - 4-6 years at 4-6 million ... clueless

haha you are unbelievable. Alright well if you can't provide a proven link to Reimers demands, and you are going to fight the comparison STATS between both goalies, then I am not sure if there is any point in carrying a conversation with you.

Reimer at $3-$4 for 2-3 years makes sense which where I think his market value will be. Any more than that and I'd rather the Flames make a trade. I have to wonder if Fluery will be available with Matt Murray looking like he can handle the job.

What's a proven link? WHY WOULD YOU ASK FOR ABSOLUTE FACTS ON A RUMOR SITE?? Am I the only one that finds that hilarious???

IT WAS RUMORED that he asked for 6 x 6 and the leafs said bye ... I didn't make that up and I can only go off of the rumors that are online.

Reimer has never played more the 40 games on horrible teams with horrible goaltending

Reimer has been hurt pretty much every year
